Biography

Alexander Bertrand was born in Belgium, in 1984. He received the Electrical Engineering degree (2007) and the Ph.D. degree in Engineering Sciences (2011), both from KU Leuven, University of Leuven, Belgium. From 2011 to 2014, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO), affiliated with the Electrical Engineering Department (ESAT) of KU Leuven and the iMinds Future Health Department. He is currently Assistant Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department (ESAT) of KU Leuven, Belgium. He was also a visiting researcher at the Adaptive Systems Laboratory, University of California, Los Angeles (in 2010), at Holst Centre/Imec-NL, Eindhoven (in 2013), and at Swarm Lab, University of California, Berkeley (in 2013). 

Dr. Bertrand received the 2012 IBM (Belgium) Award, the 2013 KU Leuven Research Council Award (Science and Technology), and an Honorary Mention in the ERCIM Cor Baayern Award (2013). He has served as Technical Program Committee (TPC) Member for several conferences and Workshops (EUSIPCO, IEEE GlobalSIP, IEEE WASPAA), and is currently lead guest editor for Signal Processing (Elsevier), and co-editor of the newsletter of the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP).
